As
some of you who have visited the main site (http://www.dorthonion.net)
may have noticed, we're working on a page for Fan Fiction and RP's. The
RP part will have links to the RPs in which our members are
threadmaster (the ones we participate in would simply be too numerous).
We also have a section for Fan Fiction, although it is currently quite
small. We accept all Tolkien-based FanFiction for consideration, with
several guidelines.
1. We do not accept sexually explicit material.
This is for several reasons, none of which includes being 'prudish.'
Firstly, we don't want to have to deal with any legal issues that may
crop up because of minors accessing our site and reading it. Secondly,
(and this is purely Findaráto speaking) I don't like Tolkien-based
smut. It makes me feel a bit creepy inside, especially when it concerns
elves. I really don't like FanFictions that have elves casually
sleeping around, or having affairs, or any of the less-than-pure things
that humans do in their sex lives. Read Laws and Customs,
people - Elves don't do that. Elves mate for life, and with the
exception of Finwë, have only one partner. Because of the link between
the body and the fëa, Elves don't have the 'uncontrollable' urges that
humans use as an excuse for cheating on partners, etc. So not only is
most Elf-sex I've read badly written, it's also completely at odds with
canon, and not in the nature of Tolkien's work. So no, we won't take
it. [/rant] 
2. We ask that the FanFiction be submitted by the author only.
3. We ask that the FanFiction be in compliance with canon. We don't
want anything glaringly at odds with Tolkien's canon. This may be waved
for a particularly good 'what if' sort of FanFic, but it will have to
be very good and stay with canon in every other way but the 'what if' part.
4. We ask that the FanFiction be well written, and use proper grammar
and spelling. If you don't have time to run a spell check on your
FanFic, then we don't have time to read it. It's that simple.
5. The decision on whether or not your FanFiction gets posted on
this page is entirely at the discretion of the admin team (Aikanáro,
Varnafindë and Findaráto). Our decisions are final.
